ILDIRI AND KARABURUN
Ildırı village, established on the outskirts of the ancient city of Erythrai, is the most untouched coastal village of the Çeşme peninsula. Enjoying the sunset and the taste of fresh fish and rakı at the pier of Ildırı İskele Balıkçısı, which is located above the sea, is a separate pleasure that prolongs your life. If you go to Ildırı a little early, you can go to the ancient city of Erythrai, one of the 12 bases of Ionia in the Aegean Sea, and visit the theater and the Acropolis, the highest point of the ancient city. Homer once said, “This is the place where the sun sets most beautifully” for the magnificent view of the Aegean and the islands that opens up in front of you.
The villages of Karaburun are wonderful gems with their naturalness, calmness and virginity. Karaburun, which seems like just an exit while driving on the Çeşme highway, hosts many villages and towns and is a full-day route.
The delicious stops on your route are:
In the first village you come across, Mordoğan, Marina Restaurant Osman's Place and Deniz Feneri Balık Evi are the best fishmongers, while Sorun's Place is famous for its Ödemiş meatballs and soups.
In the second stop, Balıklıova, the signs that you come across along the way, 'Seaside is dirty, service is slow, bills are dirty', will bring a big smile to your face and reflect the spirit of this region one-on-one. Garip's Place and Manzara Restaurant are the delicious stops of Balıklıova.
The next stop is Karaburun. Kalyon Restaurant, Number 1 Restaurant and Albatros Balık Restaurant located at the Karaburun Pier, and Saipaltı Restaurant at the Saipaltı Pier are indispensable addresses for fish lovers.
As you proceed towards Ildırı, you will see many tiny villages with postcard-like beauty with stone houses along the road. Right above the village, there is the ancient city of Erythrai and its ancient theater, nestled among artichoke and poppy fields. The view from the top is magnificent. There is a beautiful historical windmill by the sea at the Karareis-Balıklıova exit of the village. You can complete your tour either by enjoying the raki and fish while the sun sets at Ildırı İskele Balıkçısı, by tasting the artichoke ravioli specialty of the prettiest hotel here, Herakles Pansiyon, or by enjoying the sunset at Manzara Cafe on the Ilıca road.
