OVACIK

Ovacık is the agricultural center of the Çeşme peninsula. In addition to the region's famous artichokes and melons, it has also become famous for its vineyards where wine grapes are grown due to its climate and soil conditions being very suitable. On a trip to Ovacık at sunset in the evening, you will see crops swaying in the wind on the rising and falling hills, the sea a short distance away and the island of Chios on the horizon. This view, which makes you say "Tuscany has gone to hell", is truly worth seeing.
As you walk through the fields of Ovacık, you will see the Deveci Vineyards sign. Agriculture is a family tradition in the Deveci family. Ali Deveci's late father, Lütfi Deveci, is the name that started modern fruit growing in Turkey with his first farm he established in Samsun in 1937. Later, more than twenty varieties of apples, pears, peaches, watermelons, strawberries and plums, including the "Deveci pear", were grown on farms spread to different parts of the country. Ali Deveci, who created Istanbul's legendary restaurant 'Downtown', felt the call of the soil, which is a family tradition, when he visited a friend who was a viticulturist during a Çeşme holiday. After all, soil was in his blood! Ali meticulously, carefully and devotedly cultivated the soil in Ovacık, blending the family's sixty years of experience and knowledge with the latest techniques. He brought the most suitable and highest quality grape saplings for the region from France and planted them, meticulously growing the saplings and turning them into wonderful vineyards. When the climate, soil, sun and patience came together, wonderful Merlot, Shiraz, Tempranillo and Grenache wine grapes began to grow in Deveci Vineyards. While working in the vineyards every day, he also follows the secrets of making good wine. He set out on a long journey, caring for his vineyards like the apple of his eye and cherishing them. And grapes grown with such love, care and heart show themselves in wonderful wines. Don't be surprised if you come across grapes from these vineyards in the best wines of Turkey!
