The festival, which was paused due to the pandemic and started yesterday with 'Music & Culture Stops', hosted meetings of history, dance, music and food culture, where valuable names and groups will take the stage with the theme of 'Balkan Days'.
On the first day of the festival, which started with simultaneous cooking workshops in Alaçatı, Çiftlik and Ildırı, Chef Rıfat Yurttaş made Ajvar, a type of salad and pickle that is very popular in the Balkan countries and is usually made at home, with roasted eggplant, slightly hot peppers, tomato paste and a type of red pepper paste, in Çiftlikköy, and shared the recipe with the people of Çeşme. Following the Engin Güneysu Photography Exhibition at the Aya Haralambos Church, the film screening and talk of the Tears of Sarajevo 'Duje' was held. Then, Murat Meriç performed a song talk on 'Balkan Music and Turkish Pop' .
The 4-day program, which also had influences from the Balkans, featured music groups and artists such as Balkan Paradise Orchestra, Shantel, Cambo Agushev, Suzan Kardeş, Cenk Bosnalı , İlber Ortaylı's 'Exchange of Populations Turkey and Its Effects', Moğollar Group's Soloist Cahit Berkay, 'Balkan Music Country by Country', Muammer Ketencoğlu's 'Balkan Songs Interview and Recital' with stories , Murat Meriç's 'Effects of Balkan Music on Turkish Pop' interview and then Balkan Music DJ Set, Engin Güneysu, 'Duje Exhibition', 'Duje Documentary Screening', 'Interview on the Pains Experienced in Sarajevo' documentary screenings, and workshops showcasing the unique flavors of the Balkan cuisine, making the festival jam-packed with unique tastes. BrateBand, BalkanBand and Çamdibi Band shared the excitement at many points in the city throughout the festival.
